Broker Renewing Active License
If you are renewing a broker license for the first time, you must:

If you are not renewing a broker license for the first time, you must:
  • Complete the three-hour Law and Rule Required Course from a Certified Continuing Education Provider. (OAR 863-020-0010)
  • Take a minimum of 27 additional hours of continuing education in the two-year license period prior to renewal of your license. 
    • Courses completed on or before December 31, 2010 must be in real estate-related topics and approved by your principal broker.  Your principal broker will sign your certificates of attendance and maintain records of continuing education for all associated licensees for six years. (OAR 863-015-0260)
    • Courses completed on or after January 1, 2011 must be completed from Certified Continuing Education Providers in required topics. (OAR 863-020-0035)  Maintain your continuing education records for three years after renewal of the license, including the completed Continuing Education Record form and all certificates issued by Certified Continuing Education Providers. (OAR 863-020-0015)
  • Renew your license in eLicense.
  • Meet the continuing education requirements for future active license renewals. (OAR 863-020-0010)

Broker Renewing Inactive License
If you are renewing an inactive license, you are not required to complete any continuing education.  Prior to activating your license, you must meet the applicable continuing education requirements.

Inactive Broker Activating License
If you have renewed an active license at least once and completed Advanced Real Estate Practices:
Your license is currently inactive, but you have completed the Advanced Real Estate Practices course and renewed your license on active status at least once. To reactivate your license, you must:
  • Complete the Board-approved three-hour Law and Rule Required Course from a Certified Continuing Education Provider. (OAR 863-020-0010)
  • Complete a minimum of 27 additional hours of continuing education. (Must be completed within the two years prior to reactivation.)
    • Courses completed on or before December 31, 2010 must be in real estate-related topics approved by your new principal broker. The principal broker will sign your certificates of attendance and maintain records of continuing education for all associated licensees for six years. (OAR 863-015-0260)
    • Courses completed on or after January 1, 2011 must be completed from Certified Continuing Education Providers in required topics.  Maintain your continuing education records for three years after reactivation of license, including the completed Continuing Education Record form and all certificates issued to you by Certified Continuing Education Providers.   • If you have been inactive for more than two years, take and pass the Broker Reactivation Examination.
  • Reactivate your license in eLicense and pay the appropriate fee.
  • Meet the continuing education requirements for future active license renewals. (OAR 863-020-0010)

If you have never renewed an active license and never completed Advanced Real Estate Practices:
  1. You obtained your very first broker license after June 30, 2002, it has been inactive the entire time and you have renewed an inactive license at least once; or 
  2. You held an Oregon real estate license, but let it expire or otherwise lapse. You became re-licensed as a broker after June 30, 2002 by meeting the current licensing requirements, but have had an inactive license since then. You have renewed your inactive license at least once.
To reactivate your license, you must:
  • Complete the Advanced Real Estate Practices course and the Board-approved three-hour Law and Rule Required Course from Certified Continuing Education Providers. If you completed the Advanced Real Estate Practice course on or after January 1, 2011, the Law and Rule Required Course was included. (OAR 863-020-0010) Courses must be completed in the two year prior to reactivation.
  • Maintain the continuing education records for three years after reactivation of license, including the completed Continuing Education Record form and all certificates issued to you by Certified Continuing Education Providers. (OAR 863-020-0015)
  • If you have been inactive for more than two years, take and pass the Broker Reactivation Examination.
  • Reactivate your license in eLicense and pay the appropriate fee.
  • Meet the continuing education requirements for future active license renewals. (OAR 863-020-0010)

Principal Broker Renewing Active License
To renew your license on or after January 1, 2011, you must:
  • Complete a Board-approved three-hour Law and Rule Required Course from a Certified Continuing Education Provider in the two years prior to license renewal. (OAR 863-020-0010)
  • Complete a minimum of 27 additional hours of continuing education in the two year period prior to license renewal.
  • Renew your license online in eLicense and pay the appropriate fee.
  • Meet the continuing education requirements for subsequent active license renewals. (OAR 863-020-0010)

Principal Broker Renewing Inactive License
If you are renewing an inactive license, you are not required to complete any continuing education.  Prior to activating your license, you must meet the applicable continuing education requirements.

To reactivate your license, you must:
